"Don't Smile. Millions of people died 100 years back."

There is always someone so concerned about reminding everyone that bad things had happened in this very world while you are trying to smile about or laugh at or talk about something that isn't a sad thing.
I could point out so many examples but the most recent one that I encountered is, whenever or wherever someone was talking about the big fuzz 'Facebook acquiring Whatsapp'. Every-time there was someone who kept judging the people who talked about it, on their social concerns. There was this one particular comment by someone that got my attention, "The recession period is starting to show up again and the asian countries' revenue has gone down in the recent years and no one talks about it. But Facebook buys Whatsapp, the whole world flips out."
Now, in that comment, no matter how true or genuine the commenter might seem, I still find him/her pessimistic.
He/She in those words actually said, "Don't Smile. Millions of people died 100 years back."
If I encounter an argument with that person, may be he/she will ask me why aren't people talking about what he/she emphasized. I would say, people talk about rain when it starts and when it stops. In between that, people will be aware of the rain and keep them prepared for the worst. When there is a rainbow on a bad rainy day, people WILL talk about the rainbow and not the rain.
