If you guys are over thinking about what to get your geeky friend for his/her birthday, stop thinking and check out Chromecast. I am obsessed with this device and I have even stopped watching regular TV after Chromecast came into my life. AND it is cheap. 35$ in US. And Ofcourse there is Slickdeals.
For y'all who haven't seen this before, its a HDMI device which can stream online videos and music on your TV through your smart phones and Chrome browser on you computers. Best part is, any device connected in the same wifi as the chromecast can stream videos with apps like,
You can also play mp4, wmv videos from your computer through chrome browser by casting the tab.
To check other formats supported by chromecast click here.
And Ofcourse by casting your chrome browser's tab, you can stream the webpages that you are browsing.
My observation: Chromecast seamlessly streams online videos with a minimum internet speed of 512kbps. Its just awesome.
For now Chromecast is available only in the US and it is rumored about UK release this month. But we always have eBay.

Well, I think Google read my post yesterday and now its official that Chromecast is going to be available in 11 more countries: Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK
